Assess Your Arrows

Every day you are pouring energy out; these are "out arrows". Therapy appointments - 'out arrows'. Filling out forms and scheduling appointments - 'out arrows'. Preparing meals, doing laundry, driving to the store - more 'out arrows'.

I know you need to calculate your energy output and what activities you can or cannot participate in each day in order to not push your nervous system too far causing your symptoms to flair. It's hard and can feel overwhelming and sometimes quite lonely.

It's important to have things that are pouring IN to you. Things that bring you peace, joy and hope — inspite of your circumstances. Make a list, weekly, of what IN ARROWS you'll make space for in your week ahead.

Future-Cast, With Hope

Though it may feel like it, this current season you're experiencing — it won't last forever. You, even your brain, is made to heal. May be slower than you'd like, but things are always changing! You may not be able to control and dictate the future, but you may certainly help shape what it looks like for you.

Every action you take that invests in your wellness adds up. When you're in a place of calm and hope (not when you're frustrated about the pace of your healing or grieving your pre-concussion life) get out a post-it or your journal and write down what a healthier version of you is like in six months from now. Each day that you take health-investing steps helps you get one step closer to what you've written down.

The first time I was only 25 and doing all the "right" things to be healthy. And still my health crashed. In a bad kind of way. The second time was 12 years later with an auto-accident-caused brain injury.

Now, after hundreds of hours of research, and a ton of experience rebuilding my life and health, I help women simplify healthy living, with natural and holistic solutions.
